Global Village Consulting Inc. announces signing of a Business Analyst contract for the Government of British Columbia Ministry of Health. Vancouver, BC, February 1, 2004 -- Global Village Consulting Inc. (GVC) announces it has signed a contract with the Government of British Columbia to provide senior Business Analyst services to the Ministry of Health for their Provider Registry System (PRS). The PRS project is a multi-phased joint project between the western provinces and the federal government. The completed system will be used for the collection and distribution of Health Care Provider data in the four western provinces using a messaged based system. The project had already completed the initial two phases of the project when GVC was brought in to provide Business Analyst services in Victoria, BC. With the initial phases already released, the main purpose of this cycle was to refine the already developed features and to implement those which had been originally planned for this phase. The messaging system played a major role in the new features to develop. The GVC staff member assigned to this project analyzed the system requirements to detail alternatives and business designs for the development and testing teams. Documentation plays a large role in the development and maintenance of such a large inter-provincial system and due to the collaborative nature of the project, it was also very important that documentation be up-to-date. Thus, the GVC team member developed and maintained business design documentation, including business process, data model, and user interface designs. The messaging standard had not yet been developed in the initial phases of the project. Thus, the GVC team member needed to perform a thorough evaluation of the existing system to determine the best messaging standard for the current development cycle, which needed to support XML messages. This also included producing the corresponding documentation; such as Business Design, Logical Data Model, Interface design, and Messaging Decision Report. The GVC team member was also involved in the design and implementation of HL7 v3 provider messages. Work performed on this project used Oracle Designer, Visio, and MS Office as tools.
